Moths can be a serious pest control problem to Chester residents and businesses. Although they do not pose a health risk, their larvae cause serious damage in particular to clothes, fabrics, furs, leather and carpets. Moths digest keratin which is the main constituent of natural materials.
Common indicators of a moth infestation are:-
small pin-prick holes in clothes
bald patches on carpets
adult moths (either crawling or on the wing)
maggot-like larvae (moth caterpillars/wax-worms)
the silken tubes or cases in which moth larvae live
pupae (silk cocoons) which the larvae turn into moths
Effective treatment requires the complete elimination of all stages of the moth life cycle, eggs, larvae and adults. This can be achieved using insecticidal fogging agents which our technicians are trained to use effectively and safely. Before our visit, you should vacuum your property particularly around the edges of carpets and underneath furniture. All flooring and surfaces should be tidied and kept as clear as possible to allow the maximum contact of the insecticide. You should also be prepared to vacate the rooms where treatment has taken place for at least 3 hours.
