If you're finding little holes appearing in your garden recently and wondering what's made them, it's possible they were made by a miner bee.
There are many different species of miner bee, many of which can't sting. The sting of the ones that can is very mild and they are not aggressive, so you'd have to very unlucky to get stung by one. Miner bees don't live in big colonies like wasps or honey bees and are nothing to be concerned about. In fact, by burrowing to plant eggs in the ground they are helping to aerate the soil so are actually doing you a favour! This is why it is so important to correctly store waste outside in proper bins with lids fully closed........ A problem of pigeons fouling the plant on the roof of a local building addressed with the help of a hawk kite. Early days but seems to be working well! Chester and Ellesmere Port have serious problems with pigeons. Often the best solution to stop them perching and fouling on or around your building is to prevent them from getting access to it. Seekers Pest and Property Services can undertake bird proofing measures to protect your buildings such as by using bird netting and bird spikes.
Here, a building in Chester had problems with pigeons accessing through sky lights. A bird netting frame was constructed and a netting enclosure formed to completely enclose the vents, allowing them to open but stopping pigeons and other birds from entering. Experts are advising picnic-goers to capture the first wasp they see to prevent it returning to the wasp nest and telling its pals where your food is!
